Privacy

Plain-language summary of what we do with data.

What we collect

  • Readings and place data you submit. These are public by design.
  • A one-way hash of your IP and browser used only for rate-limiting and spam prevention. We don't store the raw values, and the hash cannot be reversed.
  • Optional photos. If you attach a photo, we strip EXIF and GPS data on the server before storage.

Location (Near Me only)

If you tap "Near me", your browser asks permission to share your approximate location with the page. We use it once, in your browser, to sort nearby places by distance. We don't send your coordinates to our server and we don't store them. Deny the prompt and Near Me simply won't run, you can also enter coordinates manually.

What we don't do

  • No third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
  • No selling or sharing of submitter data.
  • No accounts required to look up or submit.

Accounts

If you choose to create an account later, your email and display name are stored with the backend provider. You can delete your account at any time.
